Due to the continued growth of the business, the project team requires an experienced, commercial astute Project Development Manager to propose strategic projects in response to any improvements, optimisation and growth opportunities, alongside managing the tendering process.

 

What will this role entail?

  • Be the point of contact for key stakeholders and legal advisors; developing commercial terms, Heads Of Terms, and Leases. 
  • Analyse the contract terms and conditions and highlight areas of risk; such as ambiguities, conflicts or deviations from the scope of work.
  • Support the development of new sites including legal agreements
  • Providing support to the procurement process and Supply Chain Managers during the contract creation phase (pre-award) including assessing the scope, duration and expected value of each of the Contracts and defining the Supply Chain requirements of a contract
  • Ensuring that the specifications and contractual  terms are correct and  including; Scope of Works, Required Services, Planning, Safety, and Quality Standards, etc. are aligned
  • Administration of the contract during the execution phase including leading and managing the contract/s to successful completion to maximise operational and financial performance
  • Demonstrating compliance and ensuring the required information is available for audits and KPI reporting.
  • Maintenance of the change control process and financial risk management at the project level
  • Review Cost & Value reports and margin analysis for projects on a monthly basis, as well as providing a summary and commentary for our Directors.
  • Reviewing the project applications and out-turn forecasts on a regular basis, providing any required updates and action plans. 
  • Monitoring and reporting ledger trends reviewing potential lean efficiencies and implementing improvements.
  • Regularly reviewing the approved supply chain, including negotiation.
  • Build cost plans, manage subcontractors, and manage construction teams.
  • Provide commercial and financial feed-back on cost control of project including providing and monitoring budgets and forecasts in conjunction with the Commercial Lead/Project Manager/Budget Holder 
  • Engage with the Programme Manager/Project Manager in review of monthly and/or weekly cost and value forecasts to completion of the project 
  •  Maintain strong knowledge of any economic or other relevant external factors which could influence current or future project activity.
  • Develop and manage a procedure to recognise and identify contract disputes as they develop and manage the timely resolution under the changes provisions wherever possible, obtaining claims and legal expertise as appropriate.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with Construction, Procurement, Legal, and Risk Management to facilitate organisational interfaces between those performing (sub)contract administration.

 

What will I need in order to be considered for this Commercial & Project Development Manager? 

  • You will need to be a  passionate, self starter who challenges the way things are normally done and seeks continuous improvement. 
  •  Have a proven track record of effective business strategy in respect of project management
  • Hold a Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Hold Membership of a relevant professional institution e.g. RICS, ICE, CIOB (Desirable).
  • Substantial experience of commercial contract management
  • Experience in managing and negotiating complex contract claims and disputes.
  • Have an understanding and a working knowledge of standard construction and infrastructure industry contract types with NEC/ECC experience advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.

 

What will I receive in return?

As the Commercial & Project Development Manager, you will receive a salary between £40,000 to £50,000, level dependent on experience and qualifications, plus a range of attractive benefits including free and discounted access to all Zip World adventures, food and beverage discounts at Zip World sites, and social events throughout the year.
