The horde of demonic clowns return to Zip World Betws-y-Coed once more this October 2024 for the 5th annual Ffear Fforest scare-fest. This sell-out Halloween experience takes place in the secluded woodland, offering the chance to conquer iconic Zip World adventures in the darkness of the night, whilst being chased, tormented and terrorised by the terrifying clowns. Cursed Coaster

With just your headlamp to guide the way, the UK’s only two-seater Alpine coaster of its kind becomes the Cursed Coaster when the sun goes down. Weave through the forest in your cart, either braving it alone or sharing with a friend, as you ascend over 365m of track in the eerie, silent woodland, then descend 710m of track at speed, darting through the trees. You’ll ride this terrifying coaster adventure twice with your Night Pass and will get the chance to be immersed alone in the terrifying blackness of the forest at night.

The Nets

Swarmed with horrifying clowns, The Nets are a bouncy net adventure featuring slides, net walkways, bouncy chambers and lookout decks. Keep your wits about you as you explore the vast space, as the clowns won’t be far behind, stalking, watching and chasing. Take it at your own pace and hop on and off The Nets as you please; but don’t stay still for too long, as there’ll always be an unwanted visitor lurking in the shadows.

Parking

Don’t sweat the parking – it’s included with your Night Pass at Ffear Fforest! Just one catch: you might have to outsmart a few clowns to find a spot and get yourself checked in for your adventures. They have a knack for turning the area into their own circus.

Nightfall

Atop the 100 ft tower, you’ll stand on the trapdoors either alone or with a friend, with nothing below you but the vast expanse of darkness and mist as you wait for the drop. Those few nail-biting moments will feel like a lifetime as you wait for the trapdoors to open and you’re plunged into the darkness below, experiencing pure freefall before being lowered safely to the ground.

Screamride

Buckle in with up to 4 other people, sit back and surrender yourself to pure adrenaline as you experience the G-force of Europe’s largest 5-seater swing, with the darkness of the sprawling Conwy valley ahead. Don’t look down; you’ll be hoisted and suspended high in the air, before a brave volunteer from your group pulls the release cord, sending you all flying through the mist and darkness.

Meet the Clowns

Wallace

Wallace

Wallace is an angry clown with a point to prove. Loud, bold and brash, he's well-known for getting in your face; or even your car (so lock your doors when you arrive if you don't want a warm welcome from him!). The longest serving clown, Wallace thinks he knows it all and likes to show it.

Sid

Sid

He might look funny, but don't be fooled, Sid is as spooky as they come. There's a mean streak hidden below those frills and pom poms; Sid will arrive when he wants to, cause carnage, and disappear back into the shadows... a master of stealth, make sure you're always on the lookout, you never know where and when he will pop up next.

Mr Burns

Mr Burns

King of the clowns, Mr Burns is by far the loudest and most obnoxious clown in all the land.  Famed for his unpredictable nature, Mr Burns will one second be posing happily for selfies with you, and will be chasing you manically along the forest the next. Approach with caution and do not let your guard down around this evil ringmaster.

Pumpkin

Pumpkin

Fits of rage and regular tantrums is what you can expect from this old timer. A familiar face in the Ffear Fforest troupe, Pumpkin has clearly grown tired of the moving circus and will take his dismay out on anyone who dares cross his path.

Chuckles

Chuckles

Ironically named, Chuckles is mean and a bully. No-where (and we mean no-where) is safe from this monster, who will taunt you from the moment you step foot into his Fforest. He adds a skull to his overalls to represent each victim; some of which are in the Ffear Fforest clown gang to this day.

Prowell

Prowell

Keep your valuables to hand and your wits about you; Prowell loves collecting momentos. The cheekiest of the gang, he's been known to steal hats off heads, enter cars and buckle in for the ride, even pick his preferred song on your radio. We'd recommend locking your car unless you're ready to welcome an unwanted visitor.

Kai

Kai

He's bad, he's back. Kai has zero regard for health and safety and can often be seen with his signature chainsaw, which he uses to chase his victims down. Luckily, you'll hear him before you see him, so at least you'll have a warning.

Ffranc

Ffranc

The evil mastermind behind Nightfall, and one half of the Ffred and Ffranc duo, Ffranc dedicates his time to luring innocent explorers to Nightfall on the outskirts of the forest, where it's dark and no one can hear their screams. He loves watching his victims plummet 100ft into the darkness on his twisted adventure.

Ffred

Ffred

A force to be reckoned with and brother to Ffranc, Ffred has spent years perfecting the Screamride adventure, and lures unsuspecting guests to fly on his terrifying ride. It's said that his victims go mad, swinging back and forth in the dark.

Hacker

Hacker

Don't let that moody face fool you, he loves to play games. Usually found skulking on The Nets, you may even feel sorry for him as he plays alone, but you've fallen right into his trap. Run, as fast as you can, in the opposite direction if he's coming your way.

Jumping Jack

Jumping Jack

Wearing a mask to never reveal his true identity, JJ can be found jumping around on The Nets, chasing everyone and anyone in his path; big or small, he doesn't care who you are.

Tiny

Tiny

Ever get the feeling you're being watched? Quiet and calculated, Tiny may not jump out of the shadows at you, but she'll be watching for your weaknesses. She's quick on her feet, so watch out if you see her stalking you. Can be found behind trees and dark places.

Joaquin

Joaquin

Joaquin has a big personality and gets a kick out of screams; he will stop at nothing to terrorise you. Don't stay still for too long - whether you're boarding the Cursed Coaster, exploring The Nets or dropping on Nightfall, Joaquin will be always scouting the area for victims.

  • Best birthday experience

    Booked Fear Fforest for my daughters birthday. Group of six girls. From the minute we arrived the clowns filled the car park giving us a real sense of what was to come. It was clear that everything was well organised. They had an amazing time from the coaster ride to the nets! I felt the drinks at the cafe were fairly priced too and didn’t go overboard with the pricing like some venues I’ve visited in the past.
    Special mention to crusty the clown (purple costume) who made a real effort to ensure the girls had a great experience, chasing them on the nets just before we left. A great all round experience. Diolch.

    My family and I, all adults, went to Zip Worlds ffear fforest last night. What an awesome time we all had, we rode on the fforest coaster, bounced on the nets and was chased by the clowns. It was a brilliant night, Zip World you have got this perfectly right.
