How to make the most of autumn evenings this October

Autumn evenings have a special kind of magic to them - the air turns crisp, the sunsets come sooner, and there’s something about the incoming darkness that makes you long for cosy fires and a touch of mystery. If you’re looking to make the most of this season, and you fancy leaning into the scarier side with a touch of thrill and amusement, few places do that better than Zip World’s Halloween events. We’ll take you through how to make the most of those dark evenings and get you out and about this autumn season.

This post is from some time ago, so the information may no longer be accurate or valid.

Why autumn evenings are underrated

  • The air is cooler making this time of year the perfect for bundling up, lighting a fire, sipping something warm, and taking things a bit slower.
  • Nature offers a dramatic backdrop with colourful leaves, misty mornings and crisp nights.
  • There’s a shift from bright summer energy to something more mysterious creating the perfect atmosphere to experience a Halloween event.

A Zip World Halloween event makes the perfect autumn experience

Ffear Fforest at Zip World Betws-y-Coed

From 9th October to 2nd November 2025 (7:30 pm - 10:30 pm) you can dive into one of North Wales’s most immersive Halloween experiences. Hordes of demonic clowns stalk the woodland paths in the dark. Included is access to the Cursed Coaster and The Nets for the evening. It’s adult-scary enough for teens and children over 9 years old.

Why it’s perfect for an autumn evening:

  • The timings of the event mean you get to experience the woodland’s eerie transition from day to night.
  • Take part in Zip World adventures in the dark amplifying the season’s mood.
  • A perfect way to experience the thrills of an autumn evening together with family or a group of friends.

Monsters of the Mine at Zip World Tower

This event runs from the 10th October to 2nd November 2025 (7:00pm - 10:30pm) at a former colliery site in South Wales. Monsters roam the site as you tackle night-rides like the Terror Coaster, Cursed Climber and Phoenix zip line in darkness. This is a high-adrenaline evening experience, where darkness, speed, height and spooky surroundings combine. We recommend minimum age of 9 years to attend.

Why it’s perfect for an autumn evening:

  • The mix of industrial ruin and dark evenings create a chilling vibe.
  • Watch as the sun sets behind the Brecon Beacons as you arrive for the event.
  • It’s a great memory for a group of friends or an adventurous family outing.

Family-friendly option: Arachnophobia at Zip World Windermere

Running from the 25th - 31st October 2025, this daytime Halloween event is more family-friendly, spending two hours bouncing on the Treetop Nets, suspended walkways and slide whilst surrounded by spooky spiders and cobwebs. Aimed at younger children (3+), this is perfect if you prefer a day event that’s more enjoyable than frightening.

Why it fits the autumn evening mood:

  • It takes place during the day which means you still get that golden autumn light in the trees.
  • The woodland setting and themed décor play into the season’s atmosphere with leaves falling around you.
  • It’s ideal if you want to extend your evening with a dinner nearby or maybe take a tranquil lakeside walk.

This autumn don’t just let the evenings roll by - make the most of them! Dress for the season and immerse yourself in the golden hour, and magic of Halloween. And if you’re up for something extraordinary, Zip World’s Halloween events elevate the evening into something you’ll talk about for years to come.
