Set in the historic Victorian caverns of the Llechwedd Slate Mine, you’ll find a magical Christmas experience like no other. Watch your little one’s eyes light up as they head underground on our cable railway train, guided by multicoloured fairy lights as you head deeper into the mine. With your very own Elf tour guide to lead the way, explore the impressive light maze and take a sneak peek at Santa’s Workshop, before heading over to meet the man himself at Santa’s Grotto. But that’s not all! Head above ground for more festive fun, as you write a special letter to Santa and enjoy some slate-bauble crafting, all while enjoying a mince pie and a warm cup of hot chocolate/mulled wine.

Christmas is all about fun with the family, and Grotto Golf provides just that. Once you’ve soaked up the festive atmosphere and taken in the slights of the decorated chambers, head over to Grotto Golf to add an extra sprinkling of joy to your evening. Featuring 18 holes spread across 3 levels, this slate-mining themed crazy golf is the first of its kind in the world and is filled with interactive elements and striking light effects. What to do in South Wales this Christmas…

Tower Grotto at Zip World Tower, Aberdare

We haven’t forgotten about you South Wales parents! If you’re living in Aberdare or surrounding areas, and planning a visit to Santa’s Grotto or searching for places to take your kids this Christmas, then why not head over to Zip World Tower for our magical Tower Grotto experience?

This December, Santa’s sleigh will be flying over the Rhigos Mountain Range in Aberdare, as Santa Clause returns to our Zip World Tower site, where you’ll find his rustic Grotto ready and waiting to welcome the good girls and boys of South Wales.

Step inside this cosy den, bursting with fairy lights and festive trimmings, where your little ones can take a seat as they tell Santa their Christmas wish. Not only that but they’ll also receive a special gift from him too; But remember to save it for the big day! The festivities don’t stop there, our Tower Grotto experience offers the opportunity to head to our letter-writing workshop, where kids can write their Christmas list and deliver it personally. In return, they’ll even receive a special note back from the Official Desk of Santa Clause. Once the list is complete, head to our Craft Station to decorate a pretty slate bauble to take centre stage on the tree at home. Tickets also include a mince pie and a mug of tasty hot chocolate/mulled wine, the perfect combo for those on the hunt for festive activities in the South Wales area this December!
