What to expect from a Zip World Halloween experience

We have kick off our this years Halloween events, ready to celebrate the spookiest time of the year! If you have been to one of our Halloween events across our sites in Wales and England, you will know that they are one to remember - if you’re looking for a spine-tingling yet fun way to celebrate, Zip World’s Halloween events are the place to be. Or if this year is your first year purchasing a ticket and are a little apprehensive about what to expect, we are here to settle those nerves and get your adrenaline pumping for your booking.

This post is from some time ago, so the information may no longer be accurate or valid.

What to expect at….

Ffear Fforest

Ffear Fforest at Zip World Betws-y-Coed is a Halloween event designed to keep you on your toes! Set within a dark and winding woodland, the landscape of the site is lit with eerie colourful lighting, fog effects and a chilling soundscape to create an immersive environment. As you make your way through the woodland paths from the car park, you will be met with terrifying clowns appearing unexpectedly, making each step as tense as the last. The clowns are relentless and dedicated to their scaring so be prepared for the scares as soon as you arrive. There is no place the clowns will not go to get your attention!

Ffear Fforest truly comes alive when the sun goes down, adding to the frightening experience. Not only do you get an interactive scare-fest experience, but you also get to take part in our adventures after dark. Your Night Pass gives you access to two rides on Cursed Coaster (known as Fforest Coaster in the daytime) and access to our Treetop Nets all night. If you really want to get your blood pumping, you can choose to add extra adventures for a charge to your ticket. Experience Plummet, Skyride and Tree Hoppers at night with hordes of clowns waiting for your return after the adventure.

While it is designed to scare, the event is controlled and safe, making it perfect for thrill-seekers and Halloween enthusiasts, though some areas may be intense for younger children, so we recommend 9+ years.

Top tips

  • Remember to wrap up warm and wear sensible shoes as the experience is outside and some terrain is uneven.
  • The clowns are relentless so if you don’t want them getting in your car, lock your doors before you arrive to the car park.
  • Toilets are available on site.
  • A spooky selection of food is available all night at our top café or grab a drink from our tipi bar in the woods.
  • Keep an ear out for The Surge announcement while you’re waiting in the Cursed Coaster queue where you could be in with a chance to win Zip World vouchers.

Monsters of the Mine

If you like your Halloween thrills darker, louder, and packed with adrenaline, Monsters of the Mine at Zip World Tower in South Wales is the event that truly comes alive after dark. Set in a historic former coal mine in Aberdare, this immersive experience takes the natural eeriness of the site and amplifies it with a cinematic blend of fog, lights, and lurking creatures straight from the depths of the underworld. As night falls, the distant rumble of monsters clawing their way to the surface can be heard.

The event blends Zip World’s high-adrenaline adventures like the Phoenix zip line and Tower Coaster, with a horror film atmosphere. Choose your Night Pass to give you access to thrilling adventures in the dark including Phoenix, Terror Coaster or Cursed Climber, and plenty of unexpected jump scares along the way. For those who love the energy of Halloween but don’t necessarily want to take part in the adventures, there’s also a Spectator Pass, so you can just enjoy the atmosphere and theatrics of the night.

After facing the monsters and conquering your fears, grab a seat at Cegin Glo, where you can refuel with hot drinks, hearty food, and post-scare laughs with your group but watch out - there is nowhere the monsters won’t go! With its perfect mix of history, horror, and high-energy fun, Monsters of the Mine is the ultimate way to turn an ordinary October night into an unforgettable Halloween adventure.

Top tips

  • The monsters are not afraid to get up close and personal, so be aware they are known to steal a hat or two.
  • They start their scaring from the moment you arrive in the car park so lock your doors if you don’t want to find one hidden in the backseat.
  • Night passes work slightly differently for Monsters of the Mine – you need to choose your night pass based on what adventure you want to take part in, or choose a spectator pass which has no adventures included.
  • Check-in queues can get busy so please arrive with enough time before your adventure booking.
  • There are plenty of food and drink choices for the night at our onsite restaurant Cegin Glo.

Heaton Park of Horrors

If you’re in or around Manchester this October and fancy a bit of Halloween fun, Heaton Park of Horrors at Zip World Manchester is your perfect autumn adventure. This family-friendly event transforms the park’s treetop playground into a spooky wonderland in the day where thrills, laughter, and a touch of fright come together.

Zip World Manchester is all about climbing nets, slides, and adventure trails nestled among the trees but in October the atmosphere shifts and the site transforms into a haunted scene with costumed ghouls appearing among the branches and on the nests. Expect playful scares as you try and run from our ghastly ghouls.

Kids can take part in a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt, while adults can enjoy the lively, light-hearted ambiance of excitement and Halloween amusement. There’s no intense horror here; it’s more about giggles, surprises, and getting everyone into the Halloween mood.

Top tips

  • Your ticket includes one hour on the nets.
  • Your ticket also includes a themed scavenger hunt within the Zip World grounds. You will be supplied with a sheet and pencil.
  • The nets also have plenty of places to explore so don’t forget to check out the huts and slides dotted along the nets.
  • Feel free to wear your best Halloween costume but just make sure your arms and legs are covered, and you wear sensible shoes for the experience.
  • We recommend the use of public transport but there is a pay and display car park within the park to use.

Arachnophobia

If you prefer your scares a little more family-friendly rather than sheer terror, Arachnophobia at Zip World Windermere is the perfect Halloween adventure for you. Set in the heart of the Lake District, this eerie yet exciting experience transforms Zip World Windermere’s Treetop Nets into a tangled web of creepy crawlies and Halloween atmosphere, making it ideal for families and anyone who loves spooky fun during the day.

From the moment you step onto the giant bouncy nets suspended high among the trees, you’re stepping into a spider’s lair. Expect giant webs, oversized arachnids, and spooky spider-hybrid humans that bring the forest to life. The nets themselves are a playground of suspended tunnels, slides, and bounce zones all made more surreal with spider-hybrid creatures lurking around the corner.

Kids will love spotting the spiders and racing through the nets, while adults can soak up the atmosphere (and maybe confront their eight-legged fears in a safe way). It’s energetic, funny, and just the right amount of creepy.

Top tips

  • Your ticket includes 2 hours of access to the nets.
  • The nets also have plenty of places to explore so don’t forget to check out the huts and slides dotted along the nets.
  • Feel free to wear your best Halloween costume but just make sure your arms and legs are covered, and you wear sensible shoes for the experience.
  • There is an onsite pay and display car park to use.
