Once the seat of the Marquesses of Anglesey, this elegant 18th-century house combines classical architecture with a rich military and artistic history.
The 5th Marquess of Anglesey, Henry Cyril Paget, was famous for his lavish lifestyle, cross-dressing and flamboyant parties.
Inside, visitors can explore lavishly decorated rooms filled with antique furniture, family portraits, and the famous 58-foot mural by artist Rex Whistler, who had a close connection to the house. Outside, the grounds include centuries-old trees, colourful terraces, and peaceful woodland trails, along with a military museum that tells the story of the 1st Marquess of Anglesey’s role in the Battle of Waterloo.
