Gigrin Farm Red Kite Feeding Centre
Red Kites are now a proud symbol of Welsh wilderness, with their striking appearance and acrobatic flights and watching them gather and feed in their natural setting is a magical moment that brings you closer to the wild heart of Wales.
The Red Kite Feeding Experience offers an up-close look at one of Wales’s greatest conservation success stories.
Few wildlife experiences in the UK compare to the breathtaking sight of hundreds of red kites wheeling overhead, their distinctive forked tails cutting through the sky as they swoop to feed.
Once on the brink of extinction, the red kite has made a dramatic comeback thanks in large part to protected feeding stations and careful conservation. At places like Gigrin Farm Red Kite Centre in Rhayader, visitors can witness daily feeding sessions that attract dozens, sometimes hundreds, of these graceful raptors.
Purpose-built viewing hides and open-air platforms provide excellent vantage points for watching the spectacle, which usually takes place in the early to mid-afternoon. On-site amenities include a coffee shop serving cakes, snacks, and hot drinks; a gift shop; picnic areas; a short farm trail; and toilet facilities, including disabled access.
