Twr Marcwis Anglesey Column
The Marquess of Anglesey’s Column stands tall above the spiralling Menai Straits, sparking historical and geological interest.
It was designed by Thomas Harrison and consists of stone quarried from Moelfre on the east coast of the island.
The column was built in 1817 and has 115 steps leading up to the the statue of the Marquess and the viewing platform with stunning views over Anglesey, the Menai Straits and Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. It is near to the Britannia Bridge and boasts views of this and the Menai Bridge. The Anglesey Column Trusts purpose is the preservation, maintenance, upkeep and repair of the Napoleonic War Memorial by making it accessible to the public.
