Moel Siabod stands tall in reputation amongst the hiking community.

Moel Siabod loosely translates in Welsh as 'shapely hill'. There are a number of paths that can lead to the top of Moel Siabod but the most straight-forward is the path from Plas-y-Brenin. Follow the bridge over the Mymbyr river and through the forest path from Plas-y-Brenin. Once out of the forest, the path opens to mountain views and is largely clear to follow. You will follow this path all the way to the summit, which will be clearly marked by a large pillar.

If you are looking for a more challenging route, the Daear Ddu scrambler’s route has a varied ascent, with plenty of interest in this walk and easily accessible from just outside Capel Curig. This circular route via the Daeaer Ddu Ridge takes from 4 to 5 hrs for most people. This mountain offers something just as thrilling as Yr Wyddfa, just without the crowds. The views from the top of Moel Siabod are reportedly some of the best in the area, with 13 of the highest peaks in North Wales visible on a clear day!
