Welsh Mountain Zoo (National Zoo of Wales)

Perched high above Colwyn Bay with sweeping views of the sea and Eryri (Snowdonia), the Welsh Mountain Zoo offers an unforgettable wildlife experience in one of the most scenic settings in Wales. Founded in 1963, it has grown into the National Zoo of Wales.

Home to over 60 species from around the world.

Visitors can explore 37 acres of gardens and woodlands while meeting animals such as snow leopards, red pandas, sea lions, chimpanzees, brown bears, and penguins. Daily animal talks and feeding sessions help bring the zoo’s conservation message to life, and the thoughtfully designed layout allows for an immersive yet relaxed visit.

For families, the zoo also features outdoor play areas like Jungle Adventureland and the Tarzan Trail. Special encounter experiences offer the chance to get closer to certain animals, and there are cafes and picnic spots for taking a break.

With its combination of stunning scenery, engaging exhibits, and dedication to conservation and education, the Welsh Mountain Zoo is a top destination for animal lovers and families alike.
